"Koi and Carp" Print
8x10 PRINT
This piece was inspired by a memory I have of feeding popcorn to the fish at the Smith Mountain Lake marinas when I was a child. We’d try to toss the popcorn straight in their big bubba lips. There was one bright orange fish, a koi, that somehow ended up in the lake and swam with the carp, joining in the feast. Perhaps someone let their pet loose and it became one of the carp. The piece is ultimately a drawing of this beautiful outsider, a burst of color amidst the gray. It is about inclusivity, childhood memories, and the beauty in being unique.
This print was made from a digital drawing by Sarah Alexander. Each print is titled and signed by Sarah, and printed on 130# matte card stock.
